Ontario’s Express Entry Draw – First Human Capital Priorities Draw of 2019

Ontario’s Human Capital Priorities Stream started the new year with great progress, issuing 1,493 invitations to Express Entry candidates. Candidates with a minimum score of 439 were also invited and selected for the further steps involved.

Candidates in the Express Entry are awarded an additional 600 points with they receive and NOI (Notification of Interest) from Ontario to apply under Provincial Nominee Program, once the candidate’s application is selected. These points make sure that the applicant acquires an invitation from the government of Canada for permanent residency. A nomination from Ontario raises the minimum score of 439 to 1,039, which results in an invitation to apply for PR status.

This week’s invitation also started the general and non-general targeted draws for the Human Capital Priorities Stream. This is the reason why that from now on a candidate does not require a job offer in Ontario or French Language qualifications to be successful in the draw. Further updates were published in December stating that candidates with a job offer or work experience in Ontario’s occupation sectors will be prioritized. The Human Capital Priorities Stream issued 3,719 invitations to Express Entry candidates in 2018 and 1,626 were issued under Express Entry candidates through Skilled Trades Stream. Under the French Speaking Skilled Worker Stream, almost 1,633 entries were finalized.

The Human Capital Priorities Stream allows the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) to search the Federal Express Entry pool for candidates who meet the streams federal and provincial criteria’s. The first step towards acquiring the Ontario Human Capital Priorities Stream is to enter a profile in the federal government’s Express Entry pool.
