Canada will invite 1 million new Permanent Residents in 2019

This news has been gaining worldwide attention and has been recognized internationally as the Canadian government has accepted to admit more than a million permanent residents by the end of 2021. Reports from various internationally recognized news centers like CNN and BBC show that this target is helping Canada in a great way as many other countries including the USA are now changing their immigration policies opposite to Canadian immigration schemes and are adopting more restrictive ways by not allowing a lot of immigrants. Therefore, this is a very friendly gesture by the government of Canada and has been recognized everywhere.

Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, Ahmed Hussen has also supported the move, saying that the growing immigration will help in the Economic development and will help to spur innovation.

Canada has introduced a Multi-Year Immigration Plan from 2018 to 2021 which will welcome more than 350,000 new permanent residents by the year 2021 with an elaborated leveled plan for the coming 3 years. The Canadian government has also estimated that 60% of new permanent residents will come under economic programs and 75% of all entries will come under The Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Program. The highest targets of 2019 will be under The Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class with new admissions estimating around 81,400 this year. Express Entry and PNP has been very successful and has shown massive growth in the years. IRCC states that under Express Entry the success rates have been around 80% and under PNP in 2018, the total entries were 55,000 which will increase to around 67,800 in 2020 and 71,300 in 2021.

Not only in the above-mentioned programs, but the Canadian government also planned to increase candidates under Family reunification and refugees program. Including the person protected immigration programs; the targeted increase by Canadian immigration over the next three years is 40%. Canada has set a target if 46,450 in 2019 and 51,700 in 2021 for refugees and protected person.

The Canadian government has also set high targets under The Family Sponsorship programs for spouses, partners, children, parents, and grandparents. They are estimated to be 88,500 in 2019 and 91,000 in 2020 and 2021.

According to the words of David Cohen, senior partner at Campbell Cohen Canadian Immigration Law Firm in Montreal, “While many Western Nations are moving to reduce immigration, Canada is going in the opposite direction. This is good news for both Canadians and anyone who is hoping to make Canada their home because this country’s future depends on Immigration.”
