Manitoba issues 1,082 new invitations to immigration candidates in January.

The second Expression of Interest draw of January 2019 was held under The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program for candidates in its Skilled Worker Overseas, Skilled Worker in Manitoba and International Education immigration streams. The MPNP issued 456 invitations under the provincial nomination for permanent residence status for candidates under these streams issuing an EOI (Expression of Interest) to help in the selection process. Candidates are also required to register for an information session before submitting any forms.

Under this EOI system, candidates register their profiles and apply for immigration under the MPNP’s International Education Stream providing information regarding their education, work experiences and language proficiency factors. Candidates are then further awarded a score according to these factors and then they are issued Letters of Advice to Apply (LAA’s) through regular draws and Skilled Worker Overseas Stream’s Express Entry Pathway.

This system also helps to manage candidates for three different immigration categories which include- the Federal Skilled Worker Class, the Federal Skilled Trades Class, and the Canadian Experience Class. Candidates with a provincial nomination are also awarded an additional 600 points toward their overall score, which helps them to attain Canadian permanent residency status with an invitation to apply. To be eligible for this pathway candidate must have profiles in both the Express Entry system and the MPNP’s EOI system. Candidates were issued a combined total of 299 LAAs in the January 31st draw with the lowest ranked candidate in these two groups had a score of 572. Candidates who were invited had to have a valid Express Entry ID and job seeker validation code and possessed at least six months of recent work experience in an occupation listed in MPNP’s in demand occupation list.

There were a few other factors provided on the official website, they also received an LAA under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream. Those factors were as follows:

  • Candidate must have a close relative residing in Manitoba or past education or work experience in Manitoba.
  • Candidate must possess at least 6 months of recent experience in an occupation on Manitoba’s In-demand Occupations list.
  • Candidates are required to have a minimum language proficiency of a minimum CLB 5 set by Canadian Immigration unless the candidate has a work experience in a regulated occupation in the province.

Manitoba also issued 16 more invitations to apply under the provincial nomination for PR status issued under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream for the province by the Strategic Recruitment Initiatives. The lowest-ranked candidate to receive an invitation in this group had a score of 705.

MPNP also handed out 124 invitations under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream. Candidates with a minimum score of 575 were chosen. Candidates are required to fall under the temporary foreign workers and international student graduates streams and they must be currently working in Manitoba to avail all the benefits under these streams. They must be offered a permanent job with their respective employer in Manitoba.

17 more invitations were given out under the International Education Stream. This stream provides a faster pathway to acquire permanent residency status for international graduates of Manitoba post-secondary institutions who possess the skills required by employers in the province. This stream is further divided into three pathways – Career Employment Pathway, Graduate Internship Pathway, and Student Entrepreneur Pathway.
