Nova Scotia has selected auditors and accountants from Express Entry Pool.

The New Labour Market Priorities Stream in Canada has set a target for candidates with scores from 400 to 450 in the Express Entry. With the help of this stream, candidates with work experience as financial auditors or accountants can also apply for a nomination for The PR status as the government of Nova Scotia has confirmed to release the Invitations to Apply. These invitations were issued on the 24th of January. The Labour Market Priorities Stream was launched last year. With the help of this stream, the Immigration Office of Nova Scotia is able to search for eligible candidates in the Express Entry Pool.

The first draw of 2019 in this stream has invited candidates with a minimum of 5 years of work experience in the National Occupation Classification (NOC) 1111 – Financial Auditors and Accountants with an Express Entry ranking score from 400 to 450. This ranking score is based on factors including age, work, education, experience and proficiency in English or French. On the basis of these factors, the highest scoring candidates are invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular invitation rounds. To be considered for immigration through the Labour Market Priorities Stream and other Express Entry related provincial nominee streams, candidates must first submit an Express Entry profile accordingly.

In the case of Nova Scotia, the candidates invited must have a minimum score of 400. This year’s federal Express Entry draw only invited candidates with a minimum score of 443. A provincial nomination under Express Entry also helps any candidate with an additional 600 points towards their Express Entry ranking score, effectively assuring an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residency in a subsequent Express Entry invitation round. According to the words of David Cohen, senior partner with the Campbell Cohen Canadian Immigration Law Firm in Montreal, “This draw is potentially good news for some Express Entry candidates with ranking scores below the cut-off in recent Express Entry draws, It’s a good reminder of how provincial nominee streams can help Express Entry candidates with lower scores achieve their goal of permanent residence.”

The Express Entry profiles are valid up to 12 months; however, Nova Scotia Immigration only considered the candidates who submitted on or after 1st July 2018 in the most recent January draw. Nova Scotia government also provided a few eligibility criteria. These included that:

  • A candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree OR he/she must have completed a program of three or more years at a university, college, or any other institute.
  • Candidates must have a Canadian Language Benchmark score of 7 or higher in English or French
  • Finally, the registering candidate must have letters of reference from employers to demonstrate proof of a minimum of 5 years of work experience in NOC 1111.
